It’s that time again, the days are getting shorter, the nights are cooler, the autumnal hues light up the streetscapes, and you can hear that oh-so-satisfying crunch of leaves under your boots.
It’s almost too easy to get wrapped up in the coziness of fall, so much so that we often neglect our lawns and landscapes. The longer your to-do list gets, the more it can feel like you don’t know where to start. That’s where we come in! The fall weather at Sun Valley is no stranger to us, and we offer seasonal lawn clean-up and fall bed maintenance services to make the transition from summer to autumn a little less stressful for you.
Fall Leaf Cleanup
As Nebraskans, we know all too well that you need to be patient when it comes to the dropping of leaves. The timing of the leaves falling can vary widely across the state and we have seen them start to drop as early as October or as late as November.
As this is a natural process we cannot guarantee when they will all fall, but once they do we will be on-site to take care of them.
Throughout the month of October, we will mulch the leaves with our special lawn mowing blades. This returns valuable nutrients to the soil. In November, our clients typically receive two leaf cleanup visits and this is when we remove as many leaves as possible from the site. We utilize our nifty vacuum truck to suck them up and have really efficient equipment to make the process a breeze.
Now, all you have to worry about is enjoying this beautiful time of year!
Fall Garden Maintenance Visits
Leaves are not the only thing that needs to be taken care of this fall so come join the fall garden maintenance program! Priced out to your landscape’s unique size and scope, this recurring service takes place all year long – however, these are the FALL specific details that you’ll see us taking care of:
- Full property detailing: cleansing and sprucing up of outdoor areas
- Removal of dead plants and weeds
- Hose reels are drained and detached from the foundation
- Water features such as bubbling boulders and ponds are drained and shut down for the season
- Perennials such as Liriope and Hostas are cut back (this excludes ornamental grasses – we like to leave these for winter interest)
- Structural pruning of shrubs is taken care of
- Leaves, debris, and trash are picked up (this includes Gizmo’s toys!)
Fall Pruning Specifications for the Omaha Area
Just like our carefully constructed timing of leaf clean-up, we also err on the side of caution when it comes to pruning trees and shrubs. During fall, we do not provide structural pruning services such as dormant and growth pruning. These types of pruning are best done when plants are fully dormant in December and January or in growth mode during June.
Ornamental grasses and Hydrangeas are also not cut back or pruned during this time because they provide insulation as well as winter interest to the landscape. However, if you have large ones that start blowing over in the wind during winter, let us know – this is your space and we’ll cater our services to make sure you love it!
